15 Poisonous foods for pets
We consider pets as a part of our family and hence it is our responsibility to take care of them as much as we take care of other family members. For us, every food type can suit our body. But, the same thing does not apply for the pets. It is not necessary that all kind of food will suit pets. Hence, we have to be carefull of what food to give them and which one to avoid giving them. You have to keep in mind that there are certain foods which can be good for the people but dangerous for pets. Below is the list of food which should not be given to the pets.

1. Chocolate

It is said that any kind of chocolate is toxic for the pets. Chocolate have Theo Bromine that can affect the heart and is said to be diuretic.The pet can have diarrhea and can vomit if it is given to them. Your pet will feel thirsty and also lethargic.
2. Nuts
Macadamiaor Walnuts are more poisonous for them. There can be mild or severe problem like form vomiting till paralysis or even death, if it is given to your pet. If you give this to your pet then within 12 hours of eating he will show the signs like vomiting, weakness, inability to stand and elevated heart rate. These symptoms can be worst if your dog eat some chocolate with nuts.This can result in kidney failure or sometimes even death.
3.Onions and Garlic
Such type of food has disulfides and sulfides that can result in hemolytic anemia in pets. Your pet can find it difficult to breathe due to onset of anemia where red blood cells get broken due to which oxygen does not reach the body in normal way. Your pet will also have gastroenteritis problem which can be in form of diarrhea and vomiting
4. Avocado
It does not matter how healthy guacamole is, but you are advised not to give it to your dog. It contains substances called persin. Even if it is not harmful for humans but it can be poisonous largely for your pet. If you grow avocados plant at home,then make sure you keep your pet away from it. In such plants persin is the seed, leaves and in fruit as well.
5. Candy
Candy is a sweet product which should not be given to your pet. If your pet takes it then it can result in sudden fall of animal’s blood sugar and there won’t be any proper coordination. If it is not treated on time then youranimal will die.
6. Grapes& Raisins

Even handful of raisins can make your pet sick. If your dog or cat take in large amount of raisins or grapes they chances of kidney failure increases. There are some cases where animals died. However the poisonous substance within raisins and grapes is not known yet. But they are considered as the reason of kidney failure. Some signs can be abdominal pain, vomiting, lethargy and diarrhea
7. Caffeine
Tea,coffee or any product which contains caffeine should not be given to your pets.Caffeine is responsible for stimulating the animal's central nervous and cardiac systems. This can cause heart palpitations, restlessness and sometimes even death if not treated on time.
8. Mushrooms
Mushrooms come in different types. However most of the types of mushrooms can have different effects on pets like nausea, depression, abdominal pain, diarrhea, hallucinations,vomiting, heart damage, urination, seizures, tearing, liver failure, hyperactivityand in rare cases even death.
9. Yeast Dough

If your pet takes yeast dough you will notice a potential of expansion. This results in gas problem in digestive system which can cause extreme pain in the pets abdomen.
10. Xylitol
It is a substitute for sweetener which is added in baked goods and gums and even toothpaste. If it is given in large quantities, it can result in liver damage by increase the insulin to harmful level in most of the animals. If insulin increases it can result in hypoglycemia whose common signs can be lethargy, loss of coordination and vomiting.
11. The Pits and Rinds of Fruits
The fruits itself is not actually poisonous for pets. But it contain cyanogenic glycosides that results in cyanide poisoning
12. Alcohol
Any kind of alcohol many be wine, beer or food which includes alcohol is not good for your pets. Alcohol has same effect on dog’s liver which it has on humans.But it takes far less to damage it. Even less alcohol can result in vomiting,central nervous depression, coma and even death.
13. Broccoli
This vegetable has isothiocynate which can upset your pet’s stomach if consumed in large amounts.
14. Salt
Salt can result in excess urination and thirst. The chances of sodium ion poison increases.If there is excess salt given to the pet, it will show signs like depression, vomiting,elevated body temperature, diarrhea and sometimes even death.
15. Raw Eggs

There are basically two problems if you give dog raw eggs. The first can be food poisoning due to bacteria called salmonella and other is enzyme which interferes with absorption of Vitamin B. Other problem can be related to skin irritations if you feed them for long time.
