There are different breeds of dogs which are used for different purposes. Some of them are working dogs and some competition dogs. They differ in size and shape. Human beings play very important role in shaping the sub species, however, there are certain breeds of dog which are very dangerous and cannot be tamed.

1) American Bulldog

American Bulldog can be best described as an “All-round working dog”. It weighs around 75 – 125 pounds with a height of 22 to 27 inches at the shoulder. This dog was bought by the English immigrants to the American South. This breed supports the farmers in managing their daily tasks like driving the cattle and guarding the property. This dog is banned in Denmark and Singapore. This dog also helps the farmers and ranchers in catching the wild hogs. The average life span of this dog is 11 to 12 years.

2) Bandog

“Bandog” ; this term was commonly used in medieval times to describe a large dog which was let off its chain in the night, so that it could guard the property. This dog weighs around 121 – 154 pounds. Now-a-days a pure Bandog breed is a rarity, the dogs available today are a cross breed. The cross breeds still retain their reputation of being excellent close quarter combat dogs. Bandog is banned in countries where their parent breeds are banned.

3) Neapolitan Mastiff

These dogs are banned in Singapore and in European countries like Romania; you have to submit your psychological fitness certificate before you can own Neapolitan Mastiff.

Boerboel is a hybrid dog from Africa. It weighs around 154 – 200 pounds with a height of 25 – 28 inches. Boerboel closely resembles the Bull Mastiff in their appearance. Boerboel is a cross breed between Bull mastiff from Europe and the native African guard dogs. Ideally they are not apartment dogs; you need to have a large yard where they can run and play. These dogs are banned in Denmark.

Dogo Argentino is a large white dog which was bred by Antonio Martinez in 1928. Argentino dog is a cross breed between Cordoba fighting dog and other dogs like Great Pyrenees, Great Dane and Pointer. These dogs are trained for police assistance and military search. Originally they were developed for big game hunting. The dog weighs 80 – 100 pounds and its height is 24 to 27 inches at withers. It is banned in 10 countries including Australia and Portugal.

7) Presa Canario

Presa Canario is also called as Dogo Canario. This dog is originally from Spain’s Canary Islands. The dog weighs around 100 – 160 pounds with 23 to 26 inches at the withers. Presa Canario is banned in countries like New Zealand and Australia.

This large working dog was first bred in Brazil. The dog weighs at least 110 pounds with a height of 25 to 29 inches at the withers. Fila Brasiliero is accepted globally as one of the best estate guards. It has personality trait of “Distrust” called Ojeriza . Fila hates the strangers. You cannot own this dog in New York city, Israel , Malta and Cyprus.
