5 Reasons to groom a cat

The feline species, to which the cats belong, are known to be glamorous and elegant by their looks. The simple reason is that these species, make a constant effort to keep themselves neat and clean. Often, we see a cat licking itself in an attempt to keep itself clean and shining. The cats are fastidious creatures. 1. Healthy fur

Grooming the cat would ensure a clean and healthy fur. While the cats clean themselves, they are still not free from dust and untidy particles, including parasites, which tend to stick to their skin. Ensure to clean its head and neck also along with the fur.

2. Waterproof furs

Cat's fur has a form of oil secretion called sebum. This is released by the Sebaceous glands and thus it waterproofs the hair whenever it licks itself. Grooming of the cat will help in removing the shred hair from its body and would keep the mats of your house clean.

Good and healthy fur on the cat's body helps in temperature regulation which protects it from extreme cold and extreme heat. In winters, the fur keeps its body warmer while in summers, a clean fur keeps its body cooler. When the cats feels very hot, they start panting which is not a good signal. Unlike human beings, cats do not have sweat glands. In order to cool themselves, the cats lick their skin and hair. When their saliva evaporates, they feel cool.
