Animal Rescue Site

Hi there dear people. I live in the country side of the south California and I see a lot of stray dogs roaming here and there. Their fate is to the disposal of the people passing them by. Some hurl stones at them. Some also give them food and sometimes they themselves become nuisance by snatching it from old people. Is there an animal rescue site or something that can take them and come to their rescue???
