Arthritis is a common disease mainly in older people but nowadays it has started affecting young kids and some animals like dogs as well. Arthritis in dogs is most common in US where at least one in every five dogs suffer from this disease. This disease often proves deadly for dogs. This disease is mainly common in breeds like German Shepherds, Labradors and Retrievers. The disease is usually inherited and other causes of this disease could be hip dysplasia or some kind of joint injury. It affects mainly adult dogs although young dogs may also suffer from it. It causes a lot of pain in their joints in mainly winter season. Dogs suffering from degenerative arthritis may experience lameness, joint pain, inactivity and these signs are seen more clearly when the dog gets up in morning or after a short nap. Also, degenerative arthritis is progressive. Some of the other signs of arthritis in dogs are lack of appetite, irritability, laziness, the eye colour gets dull, being less alert, hesitancy in running or climbing stair, sleeping more, etc. This disease can be cured if the dog is given healthy diet and regular exercise to maintain its body weight as a heavy body also cause stress in joints. One should also take veterinarian advice before any kind of medication.
