Choosing the right pet rabbit for yourself
When you decide to buy a pet rabbit for yourself, you should ensure that the animal you are buying is healthy. All you need is about 10 minutes to ensure it. A simple physical examination could help you make a decision. Firstly, ensure that the rabbit is neither too fat nor too skinny. It should not have lumps or bumps on its body. The coat should be whole and well-groomed with no patches. If there is coat soiling at the rear end, it is indicative of diarrhea. As the rabbit prances around, it should neither be limping nor standing stiff. It should have a quiet and steady breathing which it does without any labor.

Once this preliminary exam is complete, go closer to the face of the rabbit. The ear flaps of the rabbit should not be damages. They should be pink on the inside and not red. There should be no discharges from there. The eyes also should be large and bright. There should not be tears and stains around the eyes. The nose too should be free of any discharges. Finally, try to have a look at the teeth. The teeth should be properly aligned and not be overgrown. The chin should not have either wet or matted fur.
Then, look around at the surroundings. The rabbits that have grown in clean surroundings will most probably be healthy. Also try to pick a rabbit that is calm and not averse to petting. At times, your heart may go out for a sick rabbit. But know that treatment could be costly and it could also end in a heartbreak for you. As long as the animal is healthy, you could also pick an adult rabbit resisting the temptation to seek a cute baby rabbit.
