What problems one may face while changing a dog's name after a year?

I got my pup during the Laker games, and then my husband decided to name him Laker. Now I hate that name and would like to change it. The thing is that the pup is only a year old and my husband and I got married recently. Would the dog be able to get used to a new name? Is it too late? How can I train him to get used to a different name? My husband is fine with me changing his name, but does not think the dog would understand. I have never heard of anyone changing a dog’s name before, so what are the possibilities of not confusing the dog, while getting him used to his new name? I want a few dog names for male puppies. Some we picked out were Rusty, because his coat is the rust color. Then another we chose was Milo, Biscuit and Dozer. All these names suit him somehow.

You have to impart top notch training to your doggie pal. Firstly, I will enlighten you with some good puppy names, which will have some unique tinge attached to them. Some names for male puppies are:

1. Ashin

2. Amos

3. Ammo

4. Amber

5. Amazon

6. Akoha

7. Alpha

8. Anais

9. Angus

10. Caron

11. Carmara Caribou

12. Cash

13. Mac

14. Chard

15. Bing

16. Josh (I named my pet with this name and it is really cool)

17. Mack

Now the training session would include you to first of all, totally discard using the name ‘Laker’, it should be considered blasphemous if used in your home. And select some name from the aforementioned list and make sure that that specific name that you have selected must be used only, nothing else than that. And make sure, at first, you go in front of the pup and speak the name out loudly. Throw a biscuit and address the pet doggie, by the name that you have selected, to catch. I guess this will help you to solve the purpose.
