A dog gets a face- lift... yes you read it right!
A mother loves her baby irrespective of his looks; this is exactly what happened with Shankly, a Shar Pei.
When he was born, there were wrinkles all over his face but then this lucky one underwent a £1,000 canine face-lift, a case of envy even for a Hollywood film star.
Shar-pei's are basically from China where they were primarily used for hunting and herding but later turned out to be well-liked fighting dogs as their folds of loose skin and short coat made it a bit tricky for an opponent to get a firm grip.
Later his folds of loose skin started 'overpowering' by blinding him so the London animal rescue charity decided to carry out a face-lift.
Head Vet Shaun Opperman performed an hour-long operation. First, he removed the large swathe of skin from his forehead then in between his eyes and finally he gave stitches to the left over skin at the back of his head.
Presently, he's living with his new owner Adrian Duncan, his wife and three children, bathing in the shower of their affection. :-)
