Are Pets surrogate children?

Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | Jan 24 2006

Yes, they are. Don't get surprised. This is the truth. Gone are the days, when we used to take in pets as house guards or just as a time pass, they're a part of the family and that too an important one. Ask Patches, a two-year-old Shih Tzu, who is leading a royal life with a personal chef always ready on his toes to serve the princely pooch. He eats only organic chicken, avail services of a dogsitter and enjoys birthday parties thrown by his owner for him. I wonder how many kids out there are able to have these privileges. But the dogs are having their day out there. They're surrogate children, pouring out loads of unconditional love and thrilling moments. Urbanization has played a major role in redefining our pet's role in life.
