Beware! Plants too can poison your pets

Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | Mar 4 2006

I know most of us are not aware that March 19-25 is the NATIONAL Poison Prevention Week and more that there are plants that can devastate your pet's life. The annual event, triggered in 1961, aims at spread awareness with respect to hidden dangers of accidental household poisoning of children and now the ASPCA and other pet organizations are coming forward to make it a success.

Aloe, azalea, hydrangea, lily (calla lily, day lily, Easter lily, orange day lily and tiger lily), oleander and tulips are listed as poisonous plants for your pets. Consumption of these plants can make your pet sick and also plant food, insecticides and fertilizers, which we often neglect, can also prove dangerous.

Apart from all these plants, seeds of apples, peaches, apricots and cherries can also bring lot of trouble especially with your pet's digestive system, as the growing season is on.
