Frightened by the contamination scare, some pet owners have started preparing pet food themselves. As per reports, the sales of books containing pet food recipe have also shot up since the nationwide pet-food recall. However, the FDA and the American Veterinary Medical Association are urging pet owners to switch brands if they are worried rather then cooking food themselves. Veterinarians are warning people that cooking balanced meals for pets is difficult and this must not be taken as a solution. The veterinarian people are also concerned over the health of pets as many of the common foods are not safe for pets, like salt, garlic, onions, chocolate and grapes. However, it is quite amazing that in the late 1960's people used to feed their pets the remains of the food and still they used to be healthy.
