Dangerous dog bill cleared, owners put a leash on your dogs

Virginia Senate has finally cleared the controversial dog bill approving penalties for owners of dogs that are aggressive and attack other pets or people, though police dogs, sick dogs and dogs protecting their owner or their owner's property are exempted.

The House Bill 1039 or the Dorothy Sullivan Memorial Bill, named after Dorothy who was killed by three pit bulls in March, was voted 39-0 paving way for the legislation.
Authorities hope that this will make owners more responsible and check the increasing number of dog attack cases. Owners must come forward to train their dogs and make them adapt to the society by mingling them more often with people and giving them more time.
