Dogs killed after chewing Greenies

The most famous and controversial American pet treat has taken lives of 13 dogs. The top-selling Greenies simply do not break inside the dog's body ultimately blocking the intestine and resulting in a painful death.

"I know they are marketed in saying that they do digest. Certainly the ones that we've taken out, esophageal or intestinal, that have been in for days are still very hard," Brendan McKiernan, a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist from Denver, Colorado, told CNN.
Though Greenies suggest owners to make sure that the dog chews the treat, that best suits his size, which is supposed to clean its teeth and check bad odor, instead of gobbling it straightaway. But owners claim that it happened despite of their following the instructions.
