Alligators are legal pets in Oregon, but they too are ending up in the same dungeon in which other exotic pets like reptiles and turtles land up. Most of the wild exotic pets are turned loose if they become burdensome. In such cases it becomes hard for others to make a choice whether to keep them or kill them.
The only thing that can curb this heinous practice is strict laws regarding exotic wild pets. Proper record through license and registration can keep a check on the exact number and their well being.
