How to make your pets feel comfortable during cold weather!
As the winters are approaching, we are finding ourselves bundling up in front of our fireplaces. At times however, we tend to overlook that even our pets require that kind or warmth as even they could experience the chillness of the cold months.
After all, we must remember that sometimes even the fur of an animal is not enough to keep them warm.
Here are a few tips that would help you in making your pets feel comfortable during the cold weather:
1. allow your pets to stay indoors if the temperature falls below 40 degrees
2. give your pets nice bedding which may include blankets and make sure that they do not sleep in an open draft in the house
3. watch out for cats as they tend to look for cozy places, this may even include warm car hoods
4. short-haired dog breeds could use a sweater
5. avoid leaving pets in car during cold weather
6. wipe off a dog's legs and stomach when coming in out of the rain, snow or ice to remove anything harmful the dog might lick later
7. on no account let a dog off leash on snow or ice, especially during a snowstorm as they lose their power to sniff in snow and ice and could easily become lost
