Is your pet a couch potato?

The adverse effects obesity can have on our pets are dormant, just like the fat in our couch potato pets. Yes, the 'silent destroyer', this is what I call it, invites diseases that remains with your throughout his life. Nearly 40 per cent of all dogs and 38 per cent of all cats are obese.

Cats are more prone to gain extra weight as their metabolic rate is slow. The overweight pet finds it hard to exercise or move and hence fall victim to arthritis, joint swelling and soreness. Thyroid disorder, diabetes and heart problems are other ailments obesity brings with it. Actually we have to take initiative and involve and encourage out pets to do exercises and play. And the most important thing is to fix a balanced diet for your pet.
