LifeGem, UK can turn your pets ashes to stones

Posted By: Neha | Feb 13 2007

We all love animals, to be more precise our pets. And what things we don't do for them. Likewise, here is an animal lover; Sue Rogers who takes her two dogs and a cat along with her wherever she goes. Yup! Sounds normal to you? OK. But they are all dead. I think I have scared you. Oh! Don't shiver like that. No. I am not telling you any scary ghost tales here. Actually, Miss Rogers, 44, has got the ashes of her three pets transformed into a £3,200 diamond ring. Wow!

The ring has the ashes of Lucky, an Old English sheepdog, a golden retriever cross called Sam, and Patch- the tom cat. After their death, Miss Rogers discovered LifeGem, UK (a company which craft diamonds from the remainder of humans and pets) she handed over her the ashes to them. These scientists in the U.S. took little amounts of carbon from each set of ashes and heated it to 3,000C. Other chemicals were also added as catalysts to initiate the process which fabricated a rough diamond within two weeks. This diamond is now in a gold band in Miss Roger's fingers.

"I am delighted with my ring as it means I can have my pets with me at all times," said Miss Rogers. For her, her pets were everything. And she loves the idea. Miss Roger's currently houses four pet cats and she is planning to do the same with their ashes too. Synthetic diamonds have been manufactured from a long time now, but the formation of stones from the ashes is a new and hot concept in the UK.
