New law to penalize pet owners for their Pet's 'Poopy Act'

Posted By: Esther Bardhan | Apr 19 2006

A recent rule has been passed by the Housing and Local Government Parliamentary Secretary Dr S. Subramaniam as an ammendment to the by-laws in the Licensing and Control of Dogs Act stating that the people who take their dogs out for a walk must clean up their pet's droppings.

In addition to this, the by-rule would prevent the local council from taking decisions with respect to formulating their own rules for keeping the pets in a particular colony. The reports say that the penalty for breaking rules has not been disclosed, but in any case the cleaning up of pet's droppings has to be taken seriously, inorder to maintain hygeine in the colonies.
