Ordinance to check stray animals passed

Bridgeton, New Jersey City council on Monday unanimously passed two ordinances, to be effective from January 1. The dog and cat owners with pets older than six months will be required to neuter them, or they'll have to pay an annual $100 per animal fee; animals with health problems are exempted. The number of dogs and/or cats has also been restricted to four.

The step was expected, to check the burgeoning number of stray animals. The stray animals are a menace augmenting spread of diseases, property destruction and animal bites.
