Quit smoking to Save your Pet

Passive smoking is killing our pets too. Mayor Bloomberg, New York, after banning smoke in bars is now attempting to put out the fire in homes. His suggestion of 'quit puffing at home - for the sake of pets' health' has triggered a debate amongst the smoking community. The city Health Department issued an advisory notice after studying the matter to pet owners.

"Even cats and dogs whose owners smoke have higher rates of cancer," the Health Department reports.

Passive smoking is excessively harmful to cats, dogs and birds. The highly sensitive respiratory tracts of birds make them easy victims of life threatening pneumonia due to accumulation of fluids. As per research, other animals can easily develop nasal cancer, lymphoma, asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory diseases living with smokers.

It impossibility of making it a law have exposed pets to the poison. But still, "smoke-free home" can be achieved by targeting consciences of smokers and campaigns.
