Can you give me a list of dog breeds that will suit an old couple?

I intend to buy a dog that will be able to share the loneliness of my grand parents. Although they are together, I feel that they need something else as well in their life. But I am not aware of the dogs that will be best suiting an aged couple. Can you give me a list of dog breeds that will suit an old couple? Will you also tell me why I should get the suggested breed to help me understand the reasons? Is buying my grandparents a dog a good decision or should I refrain from it think of something else?

I will not be giving you a list, but will be giving you the name of one breed which will be really good for the grandparents. As far as my knowledge jogs then I think German shepherd are known for their ability of being a good guard dog. And at this age, your grandparents need a good guard dog and not a normal fancy doggie, which will be rendered useless at the time of need. My aunty has a German shepherd and he is an excellent guard dog due to his intrinsic attributes like courage, fearless and keen to learn. The last attribute that I mentioned is of great importance to be a guard dog. The German shepherd is so quick in learning stuff. They grab at a great speed, which is a must for Guard dogs. I guess you should go in for the German shepherd as the guard dog. They can risk their life for it also, trust me. But don’t pamper your pet shepherd too much else it will start assuming the alpha position and the status of pack leader, which, ideally should be you.

German shepherd is cool with children also, so if your grandparent is having some little kids to visit then it will be good, provided the doggie is trained in the tangents of socialization and depicting propriety. They are very nice and obedient dogs. I am saying this with so much conviction since I am also having one German shepherd and I also have some kids with me. The kids have never shown any signs or told me anything against the shepherds. Training your German shepherd for socializing and for being obedient is a must. So make sure that you train them in the best possible manner and one more thing the training is not that tough with the German shepherds as they are very obedient and loving. They are cheerful and loving breed.

You should be training the breed, as you grandparents will not be able to execute a proper training, so the best thing is, impart proper training and then gift a fully trained doggie to your grandparents and make sure that the training session takes place in the house of your grandparents, so that the doggie is aware of the grandparents also. Good luck.
