How to give Reiki to pets
The word “Reiki” is a synonym of spiritual energy. Practitioners of this unique art treat ailments and energize body with spiritual energy. Now-a-days, it has gained recognition throughout the world. As historical facts suggest, “Reiki” was developed by Japanese Buddhist monk Mikao Usui in the early part of 20th century. Later it went through various adaptations and different masters experimented with it to bring to the present developed state. It uses a technique called “palm” curing and through this, it cures physical and mental maladies. These days, in our society, “Reiki” is known for treatment of stress in the body and it has got appreciation from the people across the world irrespective of caste, creed and color of people.
Usually, it is known for having two parts; the first part is traditional Reiki in the Japanese form and the other part is the western form by the western masters. It is taught in three parts. The preliminary part is called first degree and the secondary part is second degree and the last part is the Master’s degree. The Reiki practitioners worldwide treat the first degree as the treatment for themselves and others. The second degree is a mode of treatment for curing people from a distance and at Master’s level, it is used for teaching and accepting others to this noble practice. Although it is not proven scientifically that it is an efficacious way of treating ailments, Reiki has built up its reputation throughout the world.
Significance of Reiki for the treatment of pets
You can apply Reiki to your pets through the gentle touch of your palm or from a distance. It enhances the over-all well-being of your pets. Believe it or not, your pets tend to have physical, emotional and mental imbalances, for which, Reiki is immensely helpful. If you give them Reiki, it can restore their natural state for a longer time. Like humans, beasts and all types of domestic pets also fall prey to stress and stress makes them abnormal. By giving energy, generated by Reiki, pets come off their abnormal habits and become disciplined.
As it is often said, when the pets in your home are ill, it disturbs you mentally. So when you administer this spiritual energy, not only the domestic pets come back to their natural shape but it also improves you physically and mentally. It is because you and your pets are emotionally inter-related. This spiritual interaction makes the bond between you and pets stronger and healthier.
Ways to apply Reiki to your domestic pets
As stated earlier, you can give Reiki to your pets by the direct touch of a practitioner or in case, your pet is diseased and it is behaving very wildly, it can be applied from a distance. So let’s call the first method as personal treatment and the second one as distant treatment.
1. Personal treatment: In this, the practitioner applies gentle touch to your pets. It is much more beneficial if your pet has suffered from disease and recovering from it. This helps your pets to regain health and wellness in a faster way.
2. Distant treatment: At the time, your pet has gone through an operation and convalescing but due to the weakness it shows irritation it can be applied by the expert from a distance. It helps to restore the mental calm of your pet by improving its health in a holistic way.
Techniques and durations of Reiki for pets
Duration of a Reiki session might be up to 30 minutes. Usually, it is done between 15 to 30 minutes. Frequency of sessions depends on the recovery rate of your pet. It may be fruitful in one session or it might take three or four sessions.
Let’s discuss some of the techniques;
1. The first thing is when a human-being is given Reiki he gives his or her permission. But it is different if the patient is an animal. There are chances that it might react to an unknown practitioner of Reiki. For instance, if your dog needs Reiki, it will not act favorably when it sees a new human-being. So the approach has to be friendly and human. So here the technique is the practitioner approaches the dog slowly but in a respectful manner. He consciously tries to avoid treating the pet with the way we usually mistreat the beasts.
2. So in the first technique, you can apply Reiki to your pet from a distance. You need not be near the animal. Though this technique, you can help your pet recover from any trauma or loss it has sustained in the past.
3. In this second technique, you stay with the animal in the same room but still you maintain a distance deliberately. In this you beam the power of Reiki at the pet. Your pet receives it and develops automatically.
4. In the third technique, you move your hand over the body of your pet and through gently moving your hand over your pet’s body, you pass on spiritual energy.
5. The fourth technique is meant for very small and delicate pets. Be it smaller dogs and birds or cats, you pass on Reiki through this “hands on” method.
6. The fifth but the last technique is applying Reiki by a few practitioners to a group of pet animals. By this, this spiritual energy is passed to a group of dogs, horses, cats or pet birds and they heal physically and emotionally.
