Is Italian mastiff a good option as a pet for old people?

This Christmas I am planning to gift an Italian mastiff to my grandparents, as they usually live alone in their farmhouse. They had an Alsatian as a pet for some time, but it passed away last month, and therefore, I thought of buying an Italian mastiff for them. I would really like to know from some Italian mastiff owners, if it is a good option as a pet for old people like my grandparents, and what are its caring tips. I would be really grateful for a proper and early response from you guys.

Hi, the Italian mastiff you chose will be a good choice to gift to your grandparents. The dog is very robust, is easier to maintain and has less health problems as compared to other breeds. In temperament it is cool and gentle, also a good choice if you have kids around in your house. It is a loyal companion and easy to train. While you buy one, make sure it is not already infected with some skin or bone problems, also try to adopt a young one, so it can be trained more easily, but in case you are buying it as a guard dog, you better go for a big one. Your grandparents will be happy with your choice.
