What kind of dogs should I get for an old couple?

What kind of dogs should one buy to give an old couple company? There is this couple and I feel they have each other, but miss the joy of having kids around. Their golden anniversary is coming up and I thought I would buy them a grown up dog as they would not be able to take care of a puppy at the age they are in. What breed would you suggest and what age should the dog be? Is it a good idea?

I guess, the doggie breed for an old couple will not only be acting as a part of leisure but will also be acting as a part of safety. The best doggie breed which will be acting as a real walking stick for the old couple would be German shepherd.

German shepherd is not difficult to train and will be proving to be a real nice guard dog, which will be cool for the old couple’s safety. Now, the best thing which you can do at this point of time would be to train the German shepherd as the pup and then when it is a trifle grownup, say 1 year old, then you can give it to the oldies. Train the shepherd for 1 year all by yourself, so the oldies will be saved from the daunting task of training the doggie. I hope the information is of some help.
