I own a pet rat; can he live with the chinchilla?

I found a furry little friend in my backyard. He is grey and white in color and is quiet cute. I already own a chinchilla which is about 9 months of age. The rat was hurt I guess, I fed some bread and we got acquainted. The rat and the chinchilla are in different cages, I do not know if I should make them meet just yet. What do you think? I shall be going tomorrow to get the rat checked out for diseases it could be carrying and then I would give it a bath. Do you think rat would get along with the chinchilla?

Yes, it is prudent that the rat and chinchilla are not met, do not make them meet unless and until the rat is been tested for the rat diseases. Rats make a nice pet and, with Chinchilla, they will not be facing any issues since they are of the same breed. You have to make sure that after the rat is been checked and clear from all the rat disease, try to make both chinchilla and rats meet with each other, try to make them spend some time with each other but make sure that they do not share the same cage at any point of time, since it would not evoke good results.

The Chinchilla and rat are both from the family of rodents, so they will be having some quality of getting along with each other. I hope the information which has been provided to you in this section makes some sense.
