Pet tastes of celebrities

In contrast to the high profile lifestyle that celebrities lead, their taste for pets is quite modest. It is not always the very expensive breeds like the Afghan Hound, Saint Bernard, English Bulldog that you find in their homes but the common man’s dogs – Alsatians, Labradors, mixed breeds, strays or mutts and the like.

Pups from the pounds and shelters

Many celebs have adopted pups from the pounds and shelters and thus given the poor animals a fresh lease of life.

Jennifer Aniston’s pet dog Norman was bought from a pet rescue shelter. She loves going for long walks along the beach with Norman, a Corgi-Terrier mix.

Puggles and Poos

Designer dogs are also a hit among some celebrities - Maltipoos (a cross between a Maltese and Poodle), Cockapoos (Cocker spaniel x Poodle), Puggle (Pug x Beagle), Labradoodles (Labrador x Poodle) and so on. Designer breeds are believed to imbibe the better characteristics of either breed and are also believed to be less prone to suffer from breed-related illness in the long run.

Pedigrees

There are celebrities who like keeping the good-old pure breds. Some of them go for the tiny breeds like the teeny-weeny Chihuahuas which they can carry along with them in their hand-bags. Some like the toy-breeds like Pomeranians and Yorkshire Terriers.

Nicole Ritchie’s 2 dogs Foxxy Cleopatra, a Pomeranian, and Honeychild, a Shih-Tzu are also celebrities because they have a fan-club of their own and have made guest appearances in her TV show, ‘The Simple Life’.

Mariah Carey is very attached to her Jack Russell Terrier, Jack, and she takes him along wherever she goes.

Britney Spears had a Chihahua, Bit Bit, but I think her dog is not with her now.

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey adores her pets and each of them have an attendant to look after them. She has 2 Cocker Spaniels Sophie and Solomon and many Golden Retrievers.
