Points to know about dogs mating!

My dog is three years old and the last time I tried to get him mated, the female went for him. Luckily he did not get hurt very badly. I know cases where the male’s privates were snapped at by the female dog. How should I know the right time to get your dog mated? How do I know the female is ready for the mating process? It was the same breed I can’t see the problem. My baby is German shepherd. He is lovable, fierce when he wants to be, while protecting family. Help me out please, because I want to really bring home one of his kids. Tell me the points to know about dogs mating.

It would be very much considered as a responsible to wait for the dog to reach the maturity level before just allowing the mating to take place. Dog owners can even work according to these approximate guidelines

Large Dog Breeds at about +- 18 to 24 months old

Small Dog Breeds at about +- 12 to 18 months old

Medium Dog Breeds at about +- 15 to 18 months old

Depending on your health and the fertility a dog can even continue to be used as a stud for about ten years. A bitch can even be used for breeding until she is five years old. It is not very much advisable to allow dog mating to just take place once these periods have been reached.

Weigh up all the pros and even cons of the breeding process and then the responsibility of a litter before allowing the mating. If you are going ahead you must just ensure the following is done beforehand.
