What is the procedure for shipping pets?

I want to send a Hyacinth Macaw to nevada to my cousin as his wedding gift. I am sending this Hyacinth Macaw from New York city. I don't know anything about shipping pets because i have never shipped anything before let alone a pet. Please tell me the procedure for shipping pets, thanks.

Call the airline that you feel to choose and speak to someone in the cargo department if the pet is flying In that flight without any human. Tell them you are interested in setting up (or getting pricequote) an airline travel date for a pet.You will need to provide, The name ofthe airport (or city/state) you wish the pet to be shipped to and from, Age of pet, Confirm they have or they will be vet checked within the next 10 days of departure,The date that you would like to ship your pet, The size of the crate, Weight of thepet, Name, address and phone number of person receiving the pet. The airline will give you times, flight numbers and a specialairbill number. The flight numbers are those numbers of each plane. Your pet may need to be on more than one plane, depending upon the flight. The air bill numberis the number given to your specific pet. Provide your notes to the petbuyer and request that they’ve ‘em written down or either printed and take them along to the airport when they pick up the pet. Especially the air bill number! They might just need this and as well as their driver's license or other photo ID toclaim their new pet at that particular airport. Thank you.
