How do I raise prairie dogs in a new york apartment?

I have received some prairie puppies as a birthday gift and now I am so stuck with them because I have fallen in love with them and I don’t want to give them away to anyone. I desperately need your help in raising them healthy and happy. Will you help me out? How do I raise prairie dogs in a new york apartment? What all things will I have to do specially to keep them healthy and raise them well? I live on the twentieth floor with spacious rooms and all but still I do understand that they will need a lot more than this. Desperately looking forward.

The prairie dogs were considered to be of wild nature prior to the year 2008, when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declared the ban imposed on it, annul. The ban was imposed on the breed since they were responsible for the monkeypox outbreak in the year 2003.

The black tailed dog of the prairie breed is considered to be kept as pets. The breed is generally found in Great Plains and the wild region in the mid of Canada and Mexico. The diet of the prairie doggies as pets majorly consist of grasses and their water intake is generally high. Now, as we know, the dog breed is regarded as wild but can be tamed to be nice pets. The pet will do well in the apartment, but you have to adhere to some rigorous training sessions which will mold the behavior of the prairie pet. Just make sure that you ask your friend, who has gifted you the prairie pet, the document or the receipt of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), since it will always be beneficial to avert the future ramifications which could happen in the legal arena with you and your pet prairie.

Make sure that the pet prairie is been given enough carrots to be chewed and gnawed since they would be having some tooth development taking place soon, if they are not grownup. Provide the pets with proper caging facility and make the cage have some bushes which will add realism in the cage lifestyle which you are trying to impart to the pet prairie. I hope the information is of some help.
