Reasons why you should not give pets as gifts
Surprising your loved ones with gifts and presents on any holiday occasion makes you feel good. Some people gift pets as presents. Pets are cute to adopt and grow with you. But presenting them as gifts might be quite annoying, because you may think that a cute dog may be liked by your dear ones, but unfortunately your dear ones may be fond of kittens only. Even if they accept your pet gifts, after some days, these pets might be sent to some animal shelter. Pets should be shown much love and care, or else they might not adapt to your place, being a trouble for you and itself.
1. People have different tastes
For instance, you may think that a small, hairy, cute kitten might be the perfect gift for your relative. But your relative may be fond of dogs only. In such a case, even if your relative accepts your kitten, they might send the pet to some animal adoption center after a few weeks. It is not so good to trouble those pets for the sake of human desires and wishes. Even pets have their own likes and dislikes, as human beings. Some pets may not like a certain person for no reason. Also, we cannot judge their actions from their behaviors. Though some pets are very active and brilliant, they are rare and uncommon.
2. Pets might be mischievous
You might have witnessed a number of mischievous pets in your neighborhoods or in some other places. Pets are very similar to kids in making mistakes unknowingly. Some peculiar behavior of the pets might not suit somebody's lifestyle. Most people like pets that are cute and playful. Like kids, pets must be treated with love, care and affection to bond them close to your habits and culture. Else, pets may become a trouble to its adopters and neighbors.
3. Pets need the family's support too
Even if your dear ones like your pet as a gift, remember that the pet will grow with a family. Every member of the family must support the inclusion of the pet in their home. Even if a single member of the family hates growing a pet, then the pet will end up in trouble, sometime sooner or later. Asking the family members' opinion before you present a pet is always wise to avoid disappointment to yourself. In fact, it prevents the pet from serious troubles. Adopting a pet needs the family's favorable opinion too.
When you give a pet as a gift, it's actually a life that you present. Your actions might harm the pet without your knowledge. When you take a pet to different surrounding and environment within a short period of time, they might find it hard to adapt to the situations. Learn about the pet's nature like its food habits, playing habits, suitable weather conditions, etc. very well. As there are many disadvantages in presenting a pet as a gift, it's wise to drop your idea of gifting a pet. Adoption of a pet along with the family is the right way to bring pets to your sweet home.
