What can be some side effects of shock collars for dogs?

I have an unruly Coonhound that likes to wonder off when off the leash. One of my friends suggested a shock collar because it worked for him under similar conditions. I am bit perplexed because part of me believes the shock might make her a mean dog. So, I want to ask if there are any side effects of these shock collars for dogs. If there are, then tell me about it. Does anyone have any experience or comments concerning this issue? Please advice. Thanks.

I will not recommend you to go in for shock collar. It is highly discouraged, no matter how much unruly your Coonhound may be, you need to be a little patient and impart quality training to the Coonhound doggie pal of yours.

The best training session which you can impart is positive reinforcement method by which you will give your doggie pal some snacks or dog treats if your doggie friend shows some desirable behavior. The positive reinforcement method is the best method to train your dogs as they will readily discharge the behavior since they would be waiting for some snacks. And discontinue the practice of giving snacks or treats when your Coonhound shows the behavior that you want him to show all by his own. You can get a normal dog collar and please don’t buy shock collars, it is inhuman.
