How can I teach my dog that when he has dog life jacket on, he can float?

I have a yellow lab and we both are so fond of going to the beaches in the evening. He loves to go in the waves and by the grace of Almighty the yellow lab of mine is a great swimmer. Now, coming to the question of how to make the pet wear life saving jackets?

It is not hard, trust me, I have also faced some initial problems but then everything was as smooth as glass. Make the pet wear the jacket, before going to the lake and before it make the pet wear the jacket for, say, 5 minutes, if it does not show any type of restraints and then take out the life jacket and shower lots of love and affection on the pet which will force him to wear the jacket, just to impress you and moreover, the pet will start thinking that it is a desirable behavior which is been depicted by him. Increase the time from 5 minutes to 10 to 20 which will help the dog to get accustom to the life saving jacket. I hope the information is of some help.
