Helping your dogs into a pet door is always regarded as the most daunting task of all the time. Now if you would ask me then I must tell you that I also faced a tough time with my english bulldog to make him pass through the pet door.
As far as my experience speaks I would say that it will require a lot of positive reinforcement training to make your pet pass the pet door, which really looks intimidating. The pets sometimes become very stubborn. They don’t want to learn new things. And since you have mentioned that you have a Pomeranian with you then as far as my knowledge goes they are easy pups who are not at all hard on people when it comes to training them.
But some pets are by default nasty to people in every aspect be it training or anything. So the best way is, as I mentioned earlier, to teach and train the pet with positive reinforcement, which includes whenever the pups tries to pass the door successfully shower love and affection on them and give them their favorite treat which will help them to give this type of desired behavior more and more, because somewhere in their mind they will form the picture that they will be rewarded by the specific behavior which in this case is passing through the door.
Hope it helps.
