Ten amazing treats for your feathered friends
If you are a bird lover and have this cute feathered creature as a pet, then you must keep yourself updated on all that you should do to make your pet as healthy and comfortable as possible. Most of us lack the complete knowledge of all the foods that make a complete healthy meal for our pet birds. You do not have to dish out a huge sum for getting the correct balance of vitamins and minerals for your pet as there are ten affordable and relatively easier alternatives that can be found around the house for your birdie. Not only are these treats great on vitamins but are also equally great in the taste.

1. Fruit
All kinds of fruits such as bananas, strawberries, grapes, apples, oranges are perfect for providing your birds with a bounty of nutrients and vitamins. A majority of birds enjoy eating fresh fruits, however, the only thing to watch out for would be to remove the leftover fruits within a few hours in order to prevent the growth of bacteria inside the cage.2. Beans
As they say that beans are good for us but they are equally healthy for your birds too. Beans are a great source of protein. You can boil some beans, cool them and then feed them a scoop full for the perfect meal. Never to serve raw beans as they can be poisonous to the birds if they are not cooked.
3. Sprouts
Your birds are sure to love sprouts of any kind, even alfalfa sprouts. All you have to do is to wash the sprouts properly before feeding it to your pet as you do not want the pesticides to intoxicate your little birdie.4. Vegetables
Birds that live in their original habitats thrive on various vegetables. Fresh vegetables would make a great treat for your pet birds. Remember to clean your veggies before feeding the birds with it. You can try feeding them cauliflower, carrots, peas, asparagus and many more.5. Pasta
We all love pasta, but did you know that birds love it too! Whether cooked or raw, pasta is a great energy snack for the birdies. You can perhaps try to serve them a combo of veggies and pasta to make it a balanced meal for the birds.6. Bread
Breads are a great source of carbohydrates. The wholegrain breads are high in fiber and an absolute hit with the birds as they simply adore it.7. Popcorn
You little birdies would love popcorn whether it is unpopped or popped. Popcorn makes a great snack for the birdies, but if you are offering them the unpopped kernels, then do make sure you soften them a bit by boiling them in plain water first. If you plan to pop the kernels, then you can add some vegetable oil. However, never give the microwave popped variety of popcorn as they are high on salt and butter, which is detrimental to a bird's health.8. Cereal / Grains
We have scarecrows in grain farms as birds love to peck on grain. You can give your feathered friends some whole grains that are nutritious and a very good source of carbohydrates. Your pet birds are guaranteed to lap up all the oats or wheat that you give them in no time.9. Nuts
Nuts are great in proteins and fat, therefore, they must be given in small quantities in order to prevent your birds from becoming overweight. Nuts can be used as special awards for doing a good job. If you are giving nuts to your birds, then do make sure that you have cleaned them and that they are not salted.10. Peppers
Birds love peppers and love the heat that they produce in their palate. They seem to lack the stinging sensation that we humans feel when we bite into a pepper, making peppers a hot favorite with the birdies. Give them a pepper and they will bite and chew it in contentment.
