How can ticks on dogs be prevented?

Recently, I visited one of my friends who was a bit upset because of ticks on her dog. I have a 5 months old Boxer dog at home, and now I am bothered about his health as well, as she told me that ticks could easily make a healthy dog ill! I want to know from you guys how can ticks on dogs be prevented! Does it happen to small dogs as well? I would really be thankful, if somebody can assist me! Thanks.

Dogs are very susceptible to the tick bites and the tickborne diseases. the Vaccines are not available for all of the tickborne diseases that the dogs can get, and they do not keep these dogs from bringing ticks into just your home. For these reasons, it is the most important to use the tick preventive product on your dog.Tick bites on some dogs may be really hard to detect. Signs of these tickborne disease may not appear for seven to twenty days or longer after there is a tick bite, so you need to watch your dog closely for changes in behavior or appetite if you have a suspect that your pet has been bitten by the tick.To reduce the chances that a tick will transmit disease to you or your pets,Check your pets for ticks daily, especially after they spend time outdoors. If youjust find a tick on your dog, remove it right away.also do not forger to Ask your veterinarian to conduct a tick check at each exam.you will have to Talk to your veterinarian about tickborne diseases in your area as it is essential.you need to Reduce tick habitat in your yard.Talk with just your veterinarian about these ticks preventives on your pet.
